Nokia’s newly introduced two-SIM cell phone already in Ghana

Consistent with its reputation for churning out innovative products for its respective customer segments, Nokia, the world’s leading manufacturer of mobile devices, has unveiled a two-sim phone, which hit the Ghanaian market only last week.
Known as the Nokia C1, the device, which was unveiled few months ago, is the most affordable amongst its competitive peers across brands, according to the manufacturers.
This new addition to the Nokia fleet of devices makes it the first Nokia mobile phone to feature a 2-in-1 double SIM solution.
Hitherto, because Nokia did not have a double SIM phone, it made it easy for anyone to ascertain that a Nokia phone purported to use double SIM was not original but fake.
This situation has changed, thus making it a bit complex to figure out the original Nokia dual SIM phone from the imitation brands that are still on the market.
That fear however was allayed when ghanabusinessnews.com spoke with Osagie Ogunbor, Communications Manager for Nokia West Africa. He disclosed that Nokia was working on a very easy way that users of their new product could authenticate their dual SIM devices.
“We are going to come up with a communication very soon on the INEN, which is a short code unique to all phones, which will enable the user find out the device’s warrant period. If a phone doesn’t have that, then it is not original,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Nokia Communications Manager stated that the company is yet to fine tune the INEN before finally communicating it to their cherished customers.
For his part, General Manager of Nokia West Africa, Philip De-La-Vega said the move validates the fact that Nokia is a listening brand that will continually seek ways to surpass the expectations of its customers.
He said by simply holding down a key, people are able to switch between SIM cards. This according to De-La-Vega, enables them to take advantage of reduced call rates, flexibility when traveling from one country to another, or helps with sharing a phone within a family and still use their own SIM.
Nokia C1 owners will also benefit from a standby battery time of up to six weeks, the longest ever for a Nokia mobile phone, especially useful in those areas where access to electricity is sometimes limited, according to the manufacturers.
On the Nokia C1 phone, the standard flashlight - often someone's only means of bright light - is paired with a vivid color screen and FM radio with standard headphone jack, meaning the Nokia C1 is as much about entertainment as it is about convenience, a press release announcing the new phone stated
Nokia is the world’s number one manufacturer of mobile devices by market share. Beyond its leadership status as a manufacturer of devices, Nokia is fast becoming a leading solutions provider in the converging Internet and communications industries, providing internet services that enable users to experience media, messaging, maps and games.
