Demystifying Environment In Ghana

Issues of the environment are often neglected in my country Ghana because they are shrouded in a lot of mystery. People do not really get it that a sick environment means a sick people.
I therefore hope to demystify environmental issues through this blog. All comments are welcome once we start rolling.

A Taste of German Cinema Only five of us course participants opted to see a film at a German film theatre on Friday November 13 at the cost of 3 Euros when we were offered that opportunity. So although we were all very tired we just decided to take advantage of the opportunity to savour German cinema. At the end of the day we were not disappointed, although we nearly got bored with the many adverts that preceded the film titled “The Informant”. The interior and exterior of the theatre hall were all nice but there were not many patrons to watch the movie, although it was a new one, which made me realise it was not only in Ghana that the appetite for movies had gone down. Please do not ask me for the cast of the film because I am not very good at that since I am not really a movie person although I enjoy good movies and can easily tell a good one from a bad one. Old Fifty Ghana Cedi bank notes no longer legal tender

BY EDMUND SMITH-ASANTE The old note The Bank of Ghana (BoG), has announced that the old GH¢50 bank notes are no longer legal tender and so cannot be exchanged for goods and services rendered or in any transaction. In a press release issued today, BoG informed all banks and the general public that “the old GH¢50 banknotes ceased to be legal tender after SEPTEMBER 30, 2012, and should therefore not be issued to members of the public. The release says the old GH¢50 banknotes will however continue to be exchanged at all banks and the Bank of Ghana.  BoG has therefore directed all banks in Ghana to accept the old GH¢50 banknotes for exchange or deposit from the general public after authentication. The new note It says thereafter all banks should endeavour to lodge the old GH¢50 banknotes with the Bank of Ghana and should ensure that lodgements of the old series are segregated from the upgraded series.
